Lesson Plan: "I'm Not Throwing Away My Shot!: Lessons in Immigration to America" (PDF) | Download WordDoc

We are often told, in our education, that America was the land of opportunity; that foreign people come or have come to America to find a life better than that of their home nation. America was a new nation, quickly expanding and becoming a world power. This notion may be true for some, but it does not encompass all immigrants. In some cases, immigrants were met with the same prejudice in America that caused them to leave. This mini-unit, happening at the end of the weekly cycle, would show immigration through American History, show the problems that they face, and how this is happening today.
