Dr. Marian Makins, PhD., University of Pennsylvania

Marian is a Lecturer in the Critical Writing Program at the University of Pennsylvania, where she teaches discipline-based undergraduate writing seminars on topics such as Roman comedy, the Roman arena, and the Hunger Games trilogy. She is also a professional Celtic singer and musician. Born and raised in Washington, DC, she attended college at Columbia University in New York before moving to Philadelphia to attend graduate school. She received her Ph.D. in Classical Studies from Penn in 2013.
